GenerLink Installation Guide

From utility approval to first generator test — the complete 3-step process, typically done in 1–4 weeks with installation in under 30 minutes.

The 3-Step Process

GenerLink installation involves your utility, an approved installer, and you. Most homeowners complete the process in 1–4 weeks — the actual installation takes under 30 minutes.

1

Confirm Utility Approval

Before purchasing, confirm your utility company approves GenerLink in your service area. This is a safety and regulatory requirement — not every utility has approved GenerLink on their network.

2

Site Inspection

Your approved installer verifies three things: your meter socket is Form 2S compatible, your electrical service is 200 amps or less, and your generator meets compatibility requirements (wattage, outlet type, no full-panel GFCI).

3

Installation Day

Installation takes under 30 minutes. Your installer removes your existing meter, slides the GenerLink into the meter socket behind it, replaces the meter, and tests the system. You will be walked through the LED indicators and GenerLok connection before they leave.

Verifying Your Connection

🔒 The GenerLok Snap

When connecting your GenerLok cable, rotate the connector clockwise until you hear and feel a firm, audible snap. This mechanical click is your confirmation that the lock is fully engaged. Without the snap, the connection is not secure — never run your generator through an unsecured connection.

⚠️ Approved Installer Required

GenerLink installation must be performed by your utility company or a licensed electrician. DIY installation voids the 7-year warranty and may violate NEC 2020 requirements. Never remove or re-install the GenerLink from the meter socket yourself.
