Pacific Northwest Power — Portland, OR
Portland metro electricians — GenerLink installs for PGE and Pacific Power homes, ice-storm and PSPS ready.
About Pacific Northwest Power — Portland, OR
Pacific Northwest Power operates out of a shop in Milwaukie and covers the Portland metro area plus the northern Willamette Valley — a five-person crew serving Portland General Electric (PGE) and Pacific Power (west of the Cascades). We’ve installed GenerLink systems on over four hundred homes since 2020.
Three things drive backup power demand in the northwest: ice storms (December 2014, February 2021, January 2024), summer windstorms that bring trees onto the distribution lines in the West Hills and Tualatin Mountains, and wildfire-season Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events from the utility on hot dry east-wind days. All three are getting more frequent. Our customers are mostly homeowners in PGE’s overhead-line territory — West Hills, Tualatin, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Clackamas — and rural properties in the Mt. Hood National Forest interface where PSPS shutoffs can run 24 to 72 hours.
Every install is permitted through the City of Portland or county building department, every inspection passes first try. We combine GenerLink retrofits with panel upgrades on older East Portland and Milwaukie homes where the service is marginal. Every job ends with a driveway walkthrough using a portable generator, and we include a one-year follow-up call to make sure the homeowner has actually fired it up at least once.
Services We Offer
Service Area
We serve the Portland metro — Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, and northern Marion counties — plus Yamhill for established customers. Primary coverage includes the West Hills, Tualatin Valley, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Oregon City, Milwaukie, East Portland, and Gresham.
Residential GenerLink installs within 25 miles of Milwaukie carry no travel fee. The foothills region (Sandy, Estacada, Molalla) and rural Washington County (Forest Grove, Hillsboro outskirts) include a $60 trip fee waived if the install proceeds. Vancouver WA crossings are handled case by case — different utility, different permitting.
What Customers Say
January 2024 ice storm took out our West Linn neighborhood for nine days. Pipes burst, everything in the freezer lost, hotel bills we can't get back. We booked Pacific Northwest within two weeks of power returning. GenerLink plus a portable — 7500W — covers our furnace, well pump, two refrigerators, and lights on two circuits. We'll never be in that position again.— Linda, West Linn, OR
The PGE PSPS shutoff in September 2023 lasted almost forty hours on our road — it gets triggered whenever east wind + low humidity + a fire danger rating crosses threshold. Now we just plug in and keep going. The install crew was on time, pulled the permit, coordinated the meter pull with PGE, and did everything in a day. Clean.— Mark, Sandy, OR
We got three written estimates. PNW Power was the middle price but had the best communication, clearest scope, and the only one who took the time to explain why a GenerLink retrofit made more sense for our load profile than a whole-house standby. One-year follow-up call was a nice touch — they asked if we'd actually fired up the generator (we had not). Good reminder.— Amanda, Lake Oswego, OR
