Sunshine State Power Services — Orlando, FL
Central Florida master electricians — hurricane-season backup power for OUC and Duke Energy homes since 2011.
About Sunshine State Power Services — Orlando, FL
Sunshine State Power Services has installed GenerLink and transfer switch systems on more than nine hundred Central Florida homes since 2011. Our twelve-person team operates out of a main shop in Winter Garden and a satellite crew in Lake Mary, covering the Orange, Seminole, Lake, and Osceola county markets served by OUC (Orlando Utilities Commission) and Duke Energy Florida.
Florida summers have always been rough on the grid — afternoon thunderstorms, lightning-triggered feeder faults, and the annual hurricane watch from June through November. We built this business specifically to answer the “what do we do when we lose power at 2 AM in August” question. Every installation includes a pre-hurricane-season checkup offer in May, and our emergency dispatch operates 24/7 from June through November regardless of whether a named storm is active. Our leads are dispatched from Winter Garden and we prioritize homes with medical-dependent equipment, families with newborns, and seniors.
We pull every permit through the county building department ourselves, handle the utility meter pull coordination, and every job ends with a homeowner walkthrough that covers portable generator safety, transfer switch operation, and the do-not-do list. Our most common job is combining a GenerLink retrofit with a 200-amp service upgrade on 1970s-80s Orlando-area homes where the existing panel can’t handle modern peak loads.
Services We Offer
Service Area
We serve the greater Orlando metro — Orange, Seminole, Lake, and Osceola counties — plus commercial accounts in Volusia and Brevard. Our primary coverage runs from Ocoee and Winter Garden in the west to UCF and Oviedo in the east, Lake Mary in the north to Kissimmee in the south.
Residential GenerLink installs within 25 miles of Winter Garden carry no travel surcharge. We do not service the coasts (Daytona, Cocoa, New Smyrna) for residential — hurricane-season demand from our core market means we can't be pulled that far during the season that matters most. Commercial accounts are handled case by case.
What Customers Say
Hurricane Ian took us out for eleven days in 2022. By the time power came back we'd already lost a freezer full of breastmilk and my wife was exhausted. We called Sunshine State the next week. They had us scheduled within a month, permit pulled in four days, install done in a single afternoon. Milton didn't touch us this year.— Marcus, Apopka, FL
My father has a home dialysis setup and we can't risk even a short outage. The team did a full site assessment, explained the trade-off between the GenerLink approach and a full standby system for our specific load, and helped us land on the right configuration for half what we'd been quoted elsewhere. Professional top to bottom.— Alicia, Winter Park, FL
Combined panel upgrade and GenerLink install on our 1978 Dr. Phillips home — the old panel was full and a mess. One day of work, permit inspection the following week, everything passed first try. They even relabeled every breaker while they were in there. Very clean crew.— James, Orlando, FL
